The Bergan HS Speech Coach, Chris Kabes, is excited to announce the formation of a junior high speech team at Archbishop Bergan! It will be open to any interested 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. We will attend at least 2 meets this coming April with more possible meets being added to the schedule.
There is a great deal of speech talent at Bergan. This could be a fantastic opportunity to help students hone their speaking skills, gain confidence in themselves, and represent their school with pride. Most of the PAL league schools that compete in junior high sports also attend these tournaments.
If you’ve never been around competitive speech, it can be difficult to understand exactly what it is. There are many different types of speech events in which the students can compete, and at tournaments these events happen in nearly all of the host school’s classrooms simultaneously. But there’s nothing quite like experiencing speech first-hand, so you are invited to attend our high school practices and even ride along to one of our tournaments to get a feel for it.
