ARCHBISHOP BERGAN CATHOLIC SCHOOL ANNOUNCES NEW STAFF HIRES FOR 2016-2017 ACADEMIC YEAR
Three new staff to join Bergan.

Archbishop Bergan Catholic School would like to announce the hiring of three new staff members for the 2016-2017 school year.

Haley Mendlik has accepted the responsibilities of overseeing the World Languages program teaching Spanish 1, 2, 3, and 4 courses. Haley is an alumnae of Skutt Catholic High School and a 2014 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. There she majored in Spanish while minoring in Mathematics and Global Studies. She is working towards her Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska and holds an endorsement in Secondary Education and Spanish. She brings a wealth of international experience through studying abroad in Spain, serving as an international volunteer in Costa Rica and tutoring at the Las Americas Center in Lincoln. "We are excited to welcome Ms. Haley Mendlik as our new Spanish teacher. Her passion for the Catholic faith, knowledge of her subject area and willingness to serve others models what we wish to accomplish daily with our students. She will be a great asset for our staff and enhance the student experience at our school," Dan Koenig, Principal.

Ryan Mlnarik has been hired as the Secondary Math instructor focusing on Algebra 1, 2, Pre-Calculus and Calculus. Ryan will also serve as the Head varsity boys’ basketball coach, Assistant varsity football coach and Math department chair. Ryan and his wife Denise (Uher) are both 1991 graduates of Archbishop Bergan. They have three children Kaitlyn, Claire, and Trenton. Mr. Mlnarik is a 1996 graduate of Midland with a degree in Secondary Mathematics and received his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Doane College in 1999. Ryan has served as teacher and coach at Fremont High, Blair High, & Omaha North Magnet. He has most recently functioned as a Dean of Students and Assistant Athletic Director at Omaha Bryan High School. Ryan comes with a wealth of instructional knowledge functioning as a Math curriculum specialist, teacher mentor, School Improvement Team member, Academic Coach as well as having taught a variety honors courses. Coach Mlnarik’s basketball teams have three Nebraska State Tournament appearances, two semifinals appearances, and five post season top ten rankings. He was the 2003 Metro Coach of the year and has coached various select and all-star basketball teams. "We at Archbishop Bergan Catholic are excited to announce the hiring of Mr. Ryan Mlnarik. We are extremely fortunate to find such a quality teacher and coach to fill this vital role in our school. Ryan and his family bring faith, energy, professionalism, skills, and work ethic that will serve us well. His experiences and attitude are just what our school needs to continue to move our school family in a positive direction," Dan Koenig, Principal.

Kris Janke will be joining Archbishop Bergan Catholic Elementary as a Second Grade teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. Kris is no stranger to Archbishop Bergan Elementary as she served as a fourth grade teacher from 2008 to 2014. Kris is a 1992 graduate of Archbishop Bergan and received a degree from Midland in Elementary Education. She received a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College in 2005. Her more than seventeen years of teaching experiences include also serving as a Teacher Education instructor and field based placement coordinator at Midland University. Kris and her husband Chris have two children, Cal and Zoe, who attend Archbishop Bergan Elementary. “Mrs. Kris Janke is an outstanding educator who uses research-based practices in her classroom. We are lucky that she feels a calling to serve at Archbishop Bergan. Our children will greatly benefit from her guidance,” Dan Koenig, Principal.
