2018 Knights of the Round Table

Each year, in order to honor those people who have shown outstanding dedication to the continuation of Catholic education at Archbishop Bergan Catholic School, we established the Knights of the Round Table and the Honorary Bergan Knight Awards.

These awards are given annually during Catholic Schools Week. The recipients are members of the Bergan Family that had made deliberate efforts to assist us in accomplishing the mission of instilling passion as exemplified by Christ for faith, knowledge and service through the sharing of their gifts of time, talent, and treasure. This year we honor ten individuals.

This year’s Knights of the Roundtable award winners are…

Steve and Jill Gossett…
Steve and Jill Gossett are unconditionally supportive of Archbishop Bergan Catholic School. Whenever there is a need at the school, the staff just contacts people like the Gossetts and they help make it happen. Steve has helped by serving on the Booster Club board and has advertised and donated to Bergan through his business. Jill has assisted Archbishop Bergan through volunteering for the Knight Event, the Alumni Board and assisted in getting Bergan Staff trained in medical and emergency response. Thank you to Steve and Jill Gossett, 2018 Knights of the Roundtable.

Gene Kassmeier…
Gene Kassmeier has been supporting Archbishop Bergan for a long time. He and his wife Jo, a 1995 Knights of the Roundtable recipient, have unconditionally served Bergan for over 30 years. Each one of their children have graduated from Bergan and now their grandchildren are attending the school. Each and every year the Kassmeiers have provided T-shirts to give to our Kindergarteners when they enroll in our school at Kindergarten Enrollment Day. The Kassmeier’s have been extremely supportive of the Bergan Fund and Building our community of faith campaigns as well. Thank you to Gene Kassmeier for your continued service to Bergan.

Misti Wolf…
Misti Wolf exemplifies the service that we ask from our parents as she has volunteered her time in many different aspects of the school. Misti has volunteered to chair various decorating themes for the Knight Event. She has been the Elementary Parent Knight or PTA President for the past several years as well. She also serves as a representative on the Bergan School Board and is regularly depended upon to volunteer her services at Bergan Elementary when an activity or initiative needs to take place. Thank you to Misti Wolf for your service as a 2018 Knight of the Roundtable member.

Jeremy Murman…
For the past 5 years we at Archbishop Bergan have been lucky enough to have Mr. Jeremy Murman serve as our Instrumental Music Teacher. His energy and enthusiasm has grown our band from a handful of members to over 50 students participating in our band program. Whether it is volunteering to coach boys golf or coaching the Girls Golf Team to a State berth he leaves a mark on the people he has mentored. His gift of motivating young people and establishing school pride allows our school to be the positive environment that it is. His accomplishments are only just beginning and we celebrate the impact he has on our school tonight. Congratulations Jeremy Murman, Honorary Knight of the Roundtable Award winner.

Matt Mueller…
When Matt Mueller and his family moved back from the Kansas City area to Fremont, Matt brought along a parent involvement program called Watchdogs. Matt has been instrumental in getting this program up and running at Bergan Elementary. Watchdogs has brought Dads, Grandpas, Uncles and friends into Bergan Elementary each week to spend time with our students. Without Matt’s leadership this program would not have been possible. A 1999 graduate of Bergan, Matt is extremely upbeat and supportive of the Catholic Education we offer and is always willing to lend a hand. Thank you to Matt Mueller Honorary Knight of the Roundtable Award winner.

Therese Hoyle…
When it comes to volunteers at Bergan Middle/High School, Therese Hoyle is one of the individuals at the top of the list. From helping with Campus Ministry, to facilitating the Uniform Closet, Therese is seen helping out at Bergan Middle/High School weekly. She has been instrumental in assisting with our school retreats and has also organized the middle school concessions sales. Therese is also the Chair of the important Plant Sale Fundraiser that we hold each spring that raises major funds to support that general budget at Archbishop Bergan. Anytime a role for volunteering opportunity needs to be filled, Therese is always available to help Bergan continue to grow. 2018 Knight of the Roundtable Award winner, Therese Hoyle.

Bonnie Nebuda…
Bonnie Nebuda has served as the Director of Advancement for the past 4 years. She has been in charge of fundraising, recruitment, enrollment and retention as well as marketing and hospitality for the entire school system. Since her arrival the school enrollment has increased from 368 K-12 students to 510 Preschool -12th grade students. She has spent countless hours investing in the mission of the school. Bonnie has transformed the Advancement Office into a driving force that keeps Archbishop Bergan Catholic vibrant and growing. Thank you Bonnie Nebuda Honorary Knight of the Roundtable Award winner.

Each year we chose from the past Honorary Knights of the Roundtable Award winners and select the Honorary Bergan Knight or Knights of the Year.
There are two Knight of the Year award winners this year. These two individuals have directly impacted Archbishop Bergan Catholic School for the past decade. By donating an abundance of their own personal time, talent and treasure they have put the interests of Archbishop Bergan Catholic School at the front of their family priorities. Whether it is assisting with the Booster Club, the Knight Event, Parent Knights or school activities these two have helped set a positive example for parental involvement at our school. Their support of both the Bergan Elementary and the Bergan Middle & High School buildings has created a legacy of unconditional support for others to follow. To honor their direct impact on Archbishop Bergan Catholic School this Catholic Schools week, the Bergan Family names the 2018 Honorary Bergan Knights of the Year…
