Safety Drill Practiced Today

Keeping safety priority at Archbishop Bergan Catholic School we are continuing to practice our safety drills when students are in the buildings during the school day.  Today at Bergan Elementary and Bergan Middle/High School we practiced a Lock Out Drill.  Lock Out means that we secure the perimeter of the school and keep business as usual.  Students remained in their classrooms and we lowered all of the shades of our exterior windows closed.  Exterior doors, which are always locked, were checked and you will be happy to hear that both of our facilities were secure as usual.  In a drill such as this, teachers and staff take student attendance and everyone increases their situational awareness.  A Lock Out is quite different from a Lock Down which will most likely be the next drill that practice in the coming months.  For more information about school safety please visit
