2022-2023 New Hires Press Release

Archbishop Bergan Catholic School would like to announce the hiring of three new staff members for the 2022-2023 school year. 

 

Katlin Vampola has accepted the responsibilities of teaching Fifth and Sixth Grade Science and Theology.  Katlin is a recent graduate of Midland University and is a Saint Patrick Parishioner.  This past semester Katlin completed her student teaching experience at Bergan Elementary with Mrs. Patti Bowman in First Grade.  Katie has had practicum and teaching experiences in a number of area schools.  She has spent time at Douglas County West, Blair and the Fremont Public Schools in her experiences.  She and her husband Joe are Saint Patrick Parishioners and have a daughter, Grace.  "We are excited to welcome Mrs. Katlin Vampola as our new Fifth and Sixth grade teacher.  Katlin’s passion for her faith as well as her desire to make a difference at Bergan Elementary is very evident.  She made an impact on our students during her student teaching experience and we are ready to see her carry that over to her fifth and sixth grade students this year.  Katlin will no doubt support our school’s mission and be a great advocate for our students in the classroom.`` Dan Koenig, Principal

Deb Erpelding has been hired as a Grades 7-12 Science Instructor.  Deb will teach Middle School Science along with high school Chemistry, Physics and Earth Science courses.  Deb has previously taught at Fremont High School after a lengthy career in corporate industry as an Engineer.  Principal Dan Koenig is excited to find a teacher with Deb’s experiences, "We at Archbishop Bergan Catholic are excited to announce the hiring of Mrs. Deb Erpelding.  Deb brings an energetic personality, experiences of using science and engineering in her previous vocation, and a work ethic that will serve Bergan Middle & High School students well.  Her passion to continue to expand her faith along with her efforts to continue to be a lifelong learner match our school mission."  Dan Koenig, Principal  Deb and her husband Mike reside in North Bend.  Please join me in welcoming Deb Erpelding to the Bergan family.

 

Brett Meyer has been hired as the Learning Enhancement Interventionist for both Bergan Elementary & Bergan Middle/High School.  Archbishop Bergan Catholic School will be receiving a sizable amount of funding through the Emergency Aid to Non Public Schools Grants that were created by the Federal Government to aim at helping schools recover learning loss from the pandemic.  Bergan Catholic School has aimed these funds at hiring a Learning Enhancement Interventionist and a Learning Enhancement Para educator for the next two school years.  We have been blessed to have Mr. Brett Meyer come on board and serve as our Learning Enhancement Interventionist who will oversee developing engaging classroom projects with each of our teachers grades K-12, oversee our Project Lead the Way STEM curriculum, assist with technology initiatives and troubleshooting along with general learning support.  For the past five years, Brett has served as the STEM Education & Community Outreach Coordinator for Trinity Lutheran School in Fremont.  While at Trinity Brett formed the Trinity/Bergan STEM Club that was an afterschool program that served both schools.  Prior to Trinity Brett worked in Higher Education at University of Nebraska-Omaha, Creighton University & Midland University.  Brett and his wife Casey have three children Sydney, Logan & Blake.  “We are truly blessed to have the opportunity for Brett Meyer to work with our teachers and students on classroom learning and engagement at Bergan.  Brett’s unique background in student engagement and instructional technology will bring an expert into our school that will continue to ignite a passion in our students for learning.”  Dan Koenig, Principal

 

Additionally, Archbishop Bergan Catholic Elementary will have a Physical Education Teaching opening for the 2023-2024 school year.

Our Grades K-6 Physical Education teacher, Mr. Wyatt Morse, has accepted a position with the Nebraska Department of Education as a Physical and Health Education Specialist in the Teaching, Learning & Assessment Department of the N.D.E. 

Archbishop Bergan Catholic School will appoint a teacher for the 2022-2023 school year and then open the position for applications and interviews for the 2023-2024 in February of 2023. Mr. Steven Faulkner has been appointed to serve as the Physical Education teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.  Mr. Faulkner has previously taught Physical Education at Ferris Independent School District in Texas along with Skinner Magnet and Monroe Middle School in the Omaha Public Schools.  “In our time of need, we were blessed to have a qualified Physical Education teacher ready to fill in on a moment’s notice.  Mr. Steven Faulkner is no stranger to Bergan classrooms and activities and our students will be happy to see a familiar face in the Elementary Gym.” Dan Koenig, Principal  Steven and his wife, Ericka reside in Elkhorn with their four children Brayden, Emma, Noah & Harper.
