ARCHBISHOP BERGAN ANNOUNCES NEW STAFF HIRES
Four New Faculty Members to Join Archbishop Bergan in the Fall

Archbishop Bergan Catholic School is pleased to announce they have filled their four vacant teaching positions for the 2014 – 2015 academic year. Mr. Doug Moore has been hired to replace Mr. Neil Feser as Guidance Counselor. Mr. Michael Vanek will assume the Theology position, a vacancy created due to Rev. Jim Keiter’s relocation to a new parish and the reassignment of faculty responsibilities in the Middle School and High School. Due to increased enrollment at the elementary level and the resignation of Mrs. Kris Janke, Mrs. Ashely Prinz has been hired to teach Kindergarten and Ms. Jennifer Urbanski has been hired to teach Fifth Grade.

Mr. Doug Moore is a 1998 graduate of Archbishop Bergan and served as the Guidance Counselor at Norfolk Catholic School for the past five years and the five years prior served as a Social Studies Instructor. Mr. Moore has also coached Varsity Football, Basketball, and Track at Norfolk Catholic during his tenure there. He will continue to coach Football and Basketball for Archbishop Bergan. Doug and his wife, Megan, have three children, James, Tessa and Bode.

Mr. Michael Vanek was born and raised in Schuyler, Nebraska and graduated from Schuyler High School. He entered the seminary for the Archdiocese of Omaha receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Conception Seminary College and then studied theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University before discerning his vocation. Mr. Vanek received his teaching certificate from University of Nebraska-Lincoln and taught Social Studies at Roncalli High School in Omaha. For the past six years, he has taught Theology and coached Track at Lexington Catholic School in Lexington, Kentucky. Michael and his wife, Sarah, have two children, Grace and Elijah.

Mrs. Ashely Prinz a native of Atkinson, Nebraska graduated from West Holt High School and attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska where she earned her Associate in Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. She has experience as a Preschool and Kindergarten Paraprofessional and as a Preschool Teacher. Mrs. Prinz graduated from Wayne State College in May, 2014 with a Bachelor of Science Degree with an endorsement in Elementary Education and completed her student teaching experience at Pender Elementary School in a Kindergarten classroom. Ashley resides in West Point, with her husband, Jason, and their son, Camden.

Ms. Jennifer Urbanski is a native of North Platte, having attended McDaid and St. Patrick’s Catholic Schools there, later graduating from Grand Island Central Catholic High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Wayne State College where she also played Softball for 3 ½ years. She is currently pursuing her Masters Degree from Doane. Her first five years teaching were spent at St. Matthew’s Catholic School in Bellevue and then eight years teaching at Heartland Alternative School. During the most recent academic year Ms. Urbanski was a Special Education Paraprofessional for Westside District 66. Jennifer enjoys spending time with her parents, four siblings and their families.

Archbishop Bergan’s faculty and staff will begin the new school year on August 6th with the first day of classes starting on August 13th.
