Archbishop Bergan Catholic School would like to announce the hiring of three new staff members for the 2022-2023 school year.

We are excited to announce Archbishop Bergan Catholic School will be participating in our 2nd annual Readathon this year for the Fremont Area Big Give. Last year during the Big Give, we were able to raise over $43,000! Our goal this year is to have each student in our school family read 4.5 hours within the Readathon challenge time. We are asking all families, Preschool through 12th grade, to contact friends and family to sponsor our Readathon by pledging an amount for our event. We recommend flat donations for the event as they are easier to track and collect. All dollars raised will go to support the literacy needs Preschool-12th Grade.

Every student who turns in a pledge card (or has a donation made online at (https://www.fremontareabiggive.org/organizations/archbishop-bergan-catholic-school) will receive a spirit-wear pass. Every student who turns in a completed reading log (with 4.5 or more hours) & a pledge card will be entered in a drawing for a Juice Stop coupon. We will be giving 100 Juice Stop coupons away!

If we reach our goal, we will have read 1,913 hours which represents the year St. Patrick Catholic School was established in Fremont.

This project should be a fun way for our students to live out our pillars of Faith, Knowledge & Service. Be creative! We would love for your readers to have fun while participating in this event. Students can read to neighbors, siblings, or even grandparents over the phone or with the use of technology. Please share photos of your readers during the Read-A-Thon, with us or on social media, with the hashtags #FREMONTAREABIGGIVE and #knightsread

For the health and safety of all who traditionally attend and perform the annual Christmas music concerts, Archbishop Bergan Catholic School will be having an audience free K-12 Christmas Concert this year. The student’s performances will be recorded and a complete performance video will be made. A great way to remember the 2020 Virtual Christmas Concert for years to come!

Under the guidance of Three Rivers Health Department, the following attendance restrictions have been put in
place for the Class C2 State Championship Football game scheduled for 3:15pm on Friday, November 20, 2020, at
Heedum Field in Fremont, NE.

One of the positive experiences for our students at Archbishop Bergan Catholic School is offered through our extracurricular activities program. We often refer to extracurricular activities as the other half of our educational offerings. Students get the opportunity to participate in a variety of school sponsored activities that all are funded through the Bergan Booster Club. The culmination of these activities are awarded in post season opportunities through the Nebraska School Activities Association Championships.

A new initiative of our Bergan students is to pray for the intentions of our Parish and School families. Please use the link to complete the prayer intention form.

This communication is being sent in reference to changes in our School Lunch Program for the remainder of the 2020 calendar year. Please read through this information and then contact the school office with any questions that you may have in reference to this communication.

Now that we are 26 days into the 2020-2021 school year, we would like to ask you a few questions in relation to your experience as a parent this school year. Please be aware that this in an anonymous survey so if you you wish to be contacted after you make your comments, you must designate that request when answering question #5. Please be honest and know that your feedback is important to us.

Fill the Gap! Fund a Student! Help make up the difference between tuition and the cost to educate our students. By giving to the Bergan Fund you will be investing in our mission to educate and grow disciples and help lessen the burden of this expense within our school.

Buy Your Own Device Program
During the 2018-2019 School Year, Archbishop Bergan Catholic School implemented an optional Buy Your Own Device Program for student Chromebook Computers. This program allowed students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 to order a Chromebook that is owned by the student and be able to be used at school. The school is responsible for placing the Google Chrome Management Software on the device and the family is financially responsible to buy the device, take care of any damage or lost items. This device is allowed to be taken home at the end of the day and brought back to school each day. In essence the student owns the device and can bring it to school and use it whenever the staff designates the student time to do so. This program allows us to put more electronic devices into student’s hands and make learning more interactive. Devices purchased through the school are the only electronic devices to be allowed to be used during the school day at Archbishop Bergan Catholic School.

This past spring, Mr. Joe Wojtkiewicz made a decision to retire from teaching at Archbishop Bergan Catholic School.  Like many of you, I have very fond memories of learning life lessons as a student sitting in a desk in Mr. Wojtkiewicz’s classroom at Bergan High School.  Archbishop Bergan Catholic School has developed this video presentation (click here) celebrating and thanking Mr. Wojtkiewicz for his years of service.
