Fremont Public Schools, Midland University, Archbishop Bergan Catholic Schools, Trinity Lutheran School & Fremont Family YMCA

Fremont, Neb. – (Mar. 7, 2020) Fremont Public Schools, Midland University, Archbishop Bergan Catholic Schools, Trinity Lutheran School and the Fremont Family YMCA announced today that due to notification by Three Rivers Public Health and the following activities are being cancelled or postponed out of an abundance of caution. This is a preventative measure to mitigate, suppress and delay the spread of COVID-19. Dr. Tom Safranek, State Epidemiologist stated “this is a prudent preventative measure.”

Archbishop Bergan Catholic School will cancel school on Thursday 3/5/2020 to allow everyone to cheer on the Lady Knights Basketball Team at the NSAA State Championships.

A guiding principle of Archbishop Bergan Catholic School is to always act according to the Gospel teachings. It is an easy choice in life to live by the Golden Rule and treat others as you wish to be treated. Often though, we witness a number of examples in our society in which the Golden Rule is totally disregarded and our students view these examples with their own eyes every day.

Classes cancelled @ Bergan MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL ONLY Thursday 2/20/20 to allow students to cheer on Wrestling Team @ State. Classes @ ECEC & Bergan Elementary WILL BE in session on Thursday 2/20/20. Only Middle/High School cancelling for State Wrestling.

Keeping safety priority at Archbishop Bergan Catholic School...

So what exactly is this cultural phenomenon that is called Homecoming? Homecoming is an annual tradition of the United States. People, towns, high schools and colleges come together, usually in late September or early October, to welcome back alumni and former residents. It is built around a central event, most often, a game of football. This game is usually played on a school's home football field. The coronation of a Homecoming Queen and at many schools, a Homecoming King also takes place. A Homecoming dance for students is commonly conducted as well.
