WINTER ACTIVITIES BEGIN TO WRAP UP AT ARCHBISHOP BERGAN
Boys Basketball Team Head to State Tournament and Individuals Honored as Knights of the Roundtable

As winter sports wrap up, Archbishop Bergan Catholic School will host a Pep Rally on Wednesday, March 11th at 2:45 p.m. in the Middle/High School Gymnasium in preparation for sending the Boys Basketball Team to the State Tournament on Thursday, March 12th. The Pep Rally is open to the Public. Community Members are encouraged to use the 4th Street Doors to the School and check in at the Office. Bergan’s sixth seeded Basketball team is slotted to play third seeded Southern Valley at 3:45 p.m. at Lincoln Northeast High School. Subsequent winners will go on to play Friday and Saturday at the Sports Center and Pinnacle Bank Arena, respectively. The Nebraska School Activities Association has a full bracket and details on their website at www.nasaahome.org.

In order to honor those people who have shown outstanding dedication to the continuation of Catholic education at Archbishop Bergan Catholic School, the Knights of the Round Table and the Honorary Bergan Knight Awards are presented during a home game each year, traditionally during Catholic Schools Week. The Honorary Bergan Knight is selected from past and present members of the Knights of the Round Table.

The 2015 Knights of the Round Table are…
Larry and Pat Fisher
After their children graduated from Archbishop Bergan, the Fisher’s have continued to be involved in serving the school. Larry volunteers to drive the bus on numerous occasions and Pat volunteers countless hours at the elementary school in the kitchen and library.
Karl Fryklind
Karl is also an example of a parent of alumni that continues to be involved with the school. An unconditional supporter of all things Bergan, Karl currently serves as a member on the School Board and Advancement Committee and is in attendance at almost every extracurricular activity scheduled.
Dave Mendlik ‘80
Dave is one of the most positive supporters of Archbishop Bergan that you will find. Dave volunteers his time to Bergan through driving the bus, working in the high school kitchen helping to serve lunch and also attending as many Bergan extracurricular activities possible.
Joan Tainter
Mrs Tainter is an example of an individual that is truly making an impact on our young students. Joan, retired from teaching, has spent years assisting at Bergan Elementary as a volunteer para educator in the primary wing helping Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students three times a week.
Dennis & Jacque Witthuhn
Dennis and Jacque have assisted in making the educational experience at Bergan Elementary brighter for our students for years. They have volunteered countless hours in the preschool program often portraying lovable characters such as Tigger and Pirate Pete for our students. Their service to Archbishop Bergan Catholic School is much appreciated.
Joe Wojtkiewicz – Honorary Knight of the Year
Each year one individual is chosen from the past Knight of the Round Table Award winners and is chosen as the 2015 Honorary Bergan Knight of the Year. For 40 years, Mr. Joe Wojtkiewicz has created a legacy of positive influence on generations of Bergan Knights, and has served as an inspiration to Bergan Students in the classroom and on the court. To honor him in his 40th year at Bergan, the staff and students at Archbishop Bergan named Mr. Wojtkiewicz’s classroom, Room 102, in his honor with a permanent plaque.
